‘Do not grow tired of listening to the Church’

Bishop Jose Luis in His speech at the opening of the new maternity wing at St Theresa’s clinic, pleaded with the Minister for Health not to grow tired of listening to the Church, as the needs of the clinic were ever increasing.

The event took place at the clinic premises on Monday, May 14, 2018.

First Diocesan gathering of Altar Servers

The idea was not new. It just took us time to launch it. Saturday 24 February saw the first gathering of Altar Servers in the Diocese of Manzini. Practically all the parishes were present though not all the altar servers serving in them could join us.

Fr Theodomir Sibomana (from Rwanda) worked on this idea during 2017. At the end of the year, when priests of the Diocese gather for the final meeting, he announced it would take place at our Cathedral. He then reminded them about it to make sure no one would be missed!

A visit to Embalenhle (St Joseph’s Parish)

We visited one of our most remote outstations which had not been visited in a long long time, Embalenhle outstation. We prayed with them and shared the Word, we also visited old members who have become bedridden due to ill health. They were very happy about the visit.

We had brought them the ash from Fr Francis Motsa, we were shocked to discover that almost all the kids there had never been exposed to this very important activity of our Catholic Calender. It was unfortunate however, that we forgot to bring the Holy Communion.

As we do every year this year we had the commissioning of catechists for the work of passing on the faith on to catechumens in the diocese. Our gratitude goes to the Bishop for commissioning us and the priests who took their time to be with us during this momentous event in our life of faith and the ever devoted catechists who caring out the work of “passing on the way of Christ to others” as the bishop exhorted them during his inspiring homily. Over 200 catechists gathered today at Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral for the mass of commissioning. Fr Nkomo was asked to present a talk on the importance of the sacrament of reconciliation. This was because the commission for catechism in the diocese have notice the decline in the use of this sacrament. Below is the content of the talk. (more…)

Daughters of St Anne’s: Hhohho region retreat

The Daughters of St Anne’s Sodality held the Hhohho region retreat at Mater Dolorosa parish on the 3-4th February 2018.

Warm appreciation to the Mater Dolorosa Church PPC, Fr Mahazule and Fr Maseko, St Anne’s and Sacred Heart sodalities and the parishioners for the wonderful support. It was a successful revival.
