“Keep the promise – Know your status”

by Nercha Executive director

On Friday 30 November 2018, Hope House commemorated the 2018 World AIDS day under the theme “live positively – Know your status”. The speeches reminded us where we are coming from and how much has been achieved. We remembered the suffering, the tears, the struggle to keep our hope alive, the funerals we attended. We pray daily to God, asking Him to keep us strong but also to help us stop so much suffering. God listened to our prayers. Though there is still no cure for Aids, it is no longer a death sentence.

One of the most beautiful moments of the gathering was offered by the child who brought a pair of scissors to the Minister of Health for the cutting of the ribbon. He is only 11 years’ old and suffered from cataracts. The surgery was done at the eye clinic.

Graduations at Ekululameni

By St Joseph’s Social Projects

On Wednesday 06 December about 30 students living with disabilities graduated in various fields offered by Ekululameni.

The main message was directed to parents who came to witness the graduation of their children in numbers:

  • that a disabled person in most cases is the parent who does not know what to do when he/she has a child with disabilities;
  • that failure to realize early enough what to do and where to get help is disability on its own;
  • parents were asked to support their children so that they start their own businesses
