As we draw closer to Christmas, Holy Mother Church invites us to celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent. Our Gospel passage narrates the Good News of how the birth of Christ our Saviour will come about. Luke 1:26-38 narrates that God sent the Angel Gabriel to Mary in the place called Nazareth.
Our focus today should be open to the will of God as Mary did. As fellow Catholics as we come to the end of the year 2020 and about to celebrate Christmas, each and every day of our lives we should always say “Here I am Lord let it be with me according to your word. ” This defines the way that we should follow as the people of God.
The Angel Gabriel narrated the mission of Mary in Salvation History. She has a unique role, She is the Mother of Saviour. Her faith and Her yes to the will of God began a new chapter for humankind, it brought new meaning to our lives too. She will give birth to Jesus who has a mission of bringing redemption to humankind.
As the people of God today, each one of us has a unique mission that God has placed. As we are about to celebrate the mystery of the incarnation(Christmas) we are to spread peace and love.
By so doing, we will be exercising the Will of God and building up a harmonious society. As the Angel told Mary that with God nothing is impossible, we too should not fear to do that which is good. God will protect us, He will strengthen us when we are faced with fear.
