Last Saturday the 23rd February 2019, twenty-four (24) members of the St. Joseph Sodality in the Diocese of Manzini met at the Bishop’s House to mainly deliberate on the preparations for the Feast of St. Joseph this year.
The feast of St. Joseph is held on March 19 each year to show hospitality to the patron saint of fathers, families, workers, and the Church . Because the 19th falls midweek, the feast will be held on the 23rd March. This year the sodality resolved that the feast of St. Joseph be held at St. Philips in partnership with the Commission for Justice and Peace. There will be presentations on church issues, the life of St. Joseph, health matters and justice in peace. Refreshments will be shared with the disadvantaged and vulnerable. All these activities will happen after mass which will be followed by an adoration of the Eucharist and benediction.
At the meeting, the sodality also received five(5) new members from different parishes. One from Christ the King Ezulwini, three from St. Philips and one from Peter and Paul. Welcoming the new members into the sodality, the chairman Maduduza Zwane stated that it is not about joining the sodality. It is about members being called to work for their families, communities and the church. They must always be at the forefront in the activities of the church, he said. Zwane emphasized that being in the sodality means sacrificing leisure time with families and friends. Sacrifice goes further to sacrificing you own money for the benefit of the sodality and the church. After all he said a good leader is the one who sacrifices.
He advised members to be committed to the work of the church and the sodality; members must be considerate and avoid inconveniencing others by coming to meetings late.
Before the meeting mass was celebrated by Father Francis Motsa and the meeting was graced by the intermittent showing up of the Bishop.
