The Church encourages complete development of a person i.e. Physical, Spiritual and Psychological growth. The youth at St Peregrine’s takes time out from usual daily routine to spend time with the Lord in prayer, with others in conversation and with ourselves in reflection on retreat. This year we were joined by youth from Santissima Anunziata Parish (Florence) at St Peregrine’s Mission from 21-25 December. Each day began with prayer of the Rosary followed by Mass.
We had presentations by Brother Thokozani Mkhonta on the “History and structure of the Catholic Church” gearing the young people to an in-depth understanding of the need for vocations in the Church. Sister Cecilia Dlamini OSM taught about the importance of reading the Bible and prayer. Father Nkomo gave a talk on the meaning and source of Suffering in a world created by a good and loving God. Father Nkomo also enlightened the young people about the Church’s teaching on marriage.
Mr Mthetho Dlamini brilliantly taught about handling relationships religiously basing his talk on reconciliation as a way of life and as a Sacrament. Ms Nothando Thwala who is a lecturer at the University of Swaziland gave a motivational talk on the importance of education. Mr Makhosami Dlamini gave a presentation on Sexual and reproductive health alerting the young people about their developmental stages of life. During this fully packed program there was still time for Fun.
The retreat was concluded with charity work at a needy homestead where we gave a Christmas hamper to the family.
