Celebrating Madre Cabrini in Swaziland

by Ben Kickert

2017 represents the 100 year anniversary of the conclusion of St. Francis Cabrini’s earthly ministry.

She dedicated her life to serving those in need and inspired generations after her to do the same.

On Friday, Cabrini Ministries Swaziland celebrated a special feast day in honor of the foundress after whom the organization is named.

The entire day was dedicated to embracing the Cabrinian identity.  The day began with staff members performing acts of service for community members including handing out sweets to local children – the same act Mother Cabrini was doing when she died.

A special mass was held at St. Philips Parish with the Bishop presiding.

Following the mass a program was held to honor Mother Cabrini and included a broad range of participants with Cabrini staff, local parish members, community leaders, and invited guest.  In addition to local groups which performed, the group heard from Langalakhe Dlamini, the board chair of Cabrini Ministries and Sr. Diane Dalle Molle, the regional superior of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.  The day ended with meal and fellowship.
